The Black Team emerged victorious over the Blue Team with a final score of 45-36 during the SVC Summer League held at the House of Rapha last May 12, 2024. Despite a solid first half led by one of the Blue Team's star players, Yvess "Mr. Snowman" Suan, the Black Team's relentless defense and teamwork sealed their victory.
The Blue Team dominated the first half, giving them a big lead thanks to Suan’s impressive play. However, the Black Team turned the tables in the second half with intense full-court presses. Captain Eduard Cabuhug, alongside veterans Ray "Assassin" Vertudazo and Mikee "The Tank" Kintanar, locked down the defense and fueled a powerful comeback that turned the tide of the game.
In the game’s final minutes, Teoro sank a three-pointer, tying the game at 31 with just 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Blue Team's defense crumbled as Black Guards Jiboy, Roi Roi, and Kenneth nailed open layups, pushing their team ahead by 6 points with just 2 minutes left on the clock. Jestoni Santos, Blue Team’s “Sharp Shooter,” attempted to halt the Black Team’s run, but it wasn’t enough to steal the victory from their opponents.
The Yellow Team narrowly defeated the Maroon Team with a final score of 72-71 in their battle for the 3rd place. The match felt like a game of a lifetime, as both teams displayed remarkable skill and determination, leaving everyone on the edge of their seats until the very last second.
The Yellow Team’s Bad Brothers, Roem Rosa and Anthony Batiquin, dominated much of the game. Their aggressive play and strategic moves kept their team ahead, but the Maroon Team refused to back down. Despite being pushed to their limits, the Maroons fought back fiercely, using every ounce of energy left in their tanks to keep the score close throughout the game.
In the last quarter, the Yellow Team held a slim one-point lead with just 7 seconds left. Carl “The Showman” Ibanez of the Maroons later took a crucial two-point shot and was fouled, earning a chance to tie or even win the game from the free-throw line. However, Ibanez missed both free throws. His teammate, Maya “Mr. Nice Guy” Duca, grabbed the rebound and attempted a put-back with just 2 seconds remaining, but it bounced off the rim and failed to go in.
