The Drive Behind the Dad: TL RF on Showing Up Where It Counts Most | Select VoiceCom

There are leaders who lead with authority, and then there are leaders like Team Lead Ray Frances “RF” Vertudazo, the kind who leads with quiet strength, deep gratitude, and an unwavering commitment to both his team and his family.

This Father’s Day, SVC honors TL RF’s story — a genuine reminder that leadership isn’t just about titles or wins. It’s about showing up with purpose — at work, at home, and even courtside.

A Father First, Always

Even after more than a decade of being a dad, fatherhood still feels new and exciting to RF — especially now that his family is growing.

“Fatherhood is a continuous journey of learning,” he shares. “It hasn’t always been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding.”

Each day starts early. Preparing breakfast. Getting his daughter ready for school. Dealing with the chaos of everyday life,  all before his shift even begins.

“It’s a challenge, yes! But one I take on with love,” RF says. “And the reward? Coming home to her bright smile as she eagerly shares her unforgettable, happy experiences from school.”

Through all the milestones,  sleepless nights, test papers with A+ marks, first steps, and long talks, he credits one person for helping him stay grounded.

“This journey wouldn’t be possible without the unwavering support of my wife. Her presence behind me, steady, strong, and loving, has made it easier to take on the challenges and celebrate the victories of fatherhood.”

Finding His Leadership Voice

RF didn’t rush into leadership. It took him more than five years to decide whether he was ready to take on the role of Team Lead.

“At the start, I felt the weight of leading an entire team who would look to me for guidance and support. The pressure was real,” he admits. “But I made a promise to myself, to work hard and stay committed to doing my best.”

Three years later, that promise has turned into something powerful. Under his leadership, the Rydo campaign has not only grown– it has lasted.

“I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about the number of people you manage,” he reflects, “but about the longevity and impact of what you’re building. A sustainable, thriving campaign speaks louder than sheer size.”

Leading On and Off the Court

Basketball has always been a passion for RF, but stepping up as President of SVC’s Bulldogs Basketball Club brought that passion to a whole new level.

“I knew I wanted this season to be a success not just in terms of wins and scores, but in how we came together as a team and a community.”

From planning and organizing to rallying members around a shared vision, RF took on every detail, not out of obligation, but from a place of genuine dedication.

“This journey opened my eyes to a different side of myself. I discovered I was capable of more than I thought.”

It’s never been just about the game. For RF, it’s about bringing people together and leading with intention, regardless of the jersey he’s wearing.

What Keeps Him Going

In all three roles,  as a dad, a team lead, and a club president, RF is fueled by love, passion, and commitment.

“As a father, it’s the love for my family that drives me… as a team lead, it’s about commitment, not just to the tasks, but to the people I work with.”

He believes true leadership is measured not by size, but by sustainability and impact. His secret to juggling it all?

“Effective time management and having the right support system. I’ve learned you don’t have to do everything alone. Don’t hesitate to communicate and delegate when needed.”

Still, it’s not always easy. The hardest part?

“Trying to give your 100% to everything without burning out.”

Lessons That Stick

One of the greatest gifts fatherhood has given RF is patience,  a lesson that continues to shape his approach to both leadership and teamwork.

“Growth takes time and mistakes are part of the process,” he explains. “Just like parenting, leading a team requires constant adjustment, listening, and growth.”

His Message to Fellow Dads

To all the dads trying to do it all, RF offers a simple but powerful reminder:

“Don’t forget to spare time for yourself. Enjoy the things you love… When things get too heavy, don’t hesitate to pray. Strength isn’t just about pushing forward — it’s also about knowing when to slow down and reset.”

TL RF’s story is proof that success doesn’t have to come at the cost of balance. That fatherhood, leadership, and community don’t compete,  they build on each other.

He leads his team with the same values he brings home: patience, commitment, and heart. And in every role he takes on,  from managing a campaign to organizing a basketball season, he shows that the real measure of a man is how well he lifts others.
