For 16-year-old Jackie, the dream of becoming a doctor is now one step closer to reality. On October 16, 2025, Select VoiceCom (SVC) officially named her as the first beneficiary of its flagship corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, "The SVC Legacy: Bata, Bayani, Bukas."

In partnership with the Children's Shelter of Cebu, Inc. (CSC), SVC's sponsorship will cover Jackie's full tuition through graduation, along with school uniforms, books, transportation, and other academic expenses.

Behind the Initiative: Empowering Children Through Education

Launched on August 9, 2025, The SVC Legacy: Bata, Bayani, Bukas is designed to create lasting change for children in Cebu through long-term educational support and holistic development. The programme recently earned a Bronze Award for Community Building at the OIR 2025 by Outsource Accelerator on October 17. It reflects SVC's belief that every child can become a positive force in their community when given the proper care and support.

"This programme is about more than just one-time activities. It's about consistency and partnership," said Ann Espina, SVC's Brand and Communications Supervisor. "By supporting children like Jackie, we're helping them unlock their potential and build confidence in their future."

Beyond tuition sponsorship, SVC continues to strengthen its collaboration with CSC through workshops, feeding programmes, and enrichment activities that nurture the children's academic growth and social well-being.

Jackie's Journey: From Shelter to Strength

Jackie and her younger brother have been living at CSC since 2014. After their mother left home, their father, struggling with financial challenges, entrusted them to CSC to ensure their needs were met.

Despite her quiet and reserved nature, Jackie has consistently stood out for her discipline and determination in school. She earned multiple honors throughout junior high under the Accelerated Christian Education curriculum and graduated with distinctions for academic excellence and dependability.

Now a Grade 11 STEM student at the University of Cebu, Jackie's dream is to become a doctor, inspired by a book she once read about a young girl who overcame adversity through education and service. Outside of academics, Jackie enjoys playing volleyball and reading.

Jackie sincerely thanked SVC for choosing her as its first beneficiary. "Thank you for believing in my potential. This has made me realise that I need to study even harder and not disappoint the people who believe in me," she said.

The CSC Mission: A Home That Nurtures Hope

Founded on the belief that every child deserves a loving, Christ-centered home, CSC provides comprehensive care through medical, educational, and psychosocial programmes. The organization also supports adoption and family reunification efforts to ensure each child has the best possible path toward a secure future.

"We exist to glorify God by providing a loving, Christ-centred home. Our goal is to meet every child's medical, educational, and emotional needs so they can thrive and reach their full potential," said Eunice Guinanoy, CSC's programme director.

Building Futures Together

For Jackie, SVC's support means more than just financial relief; it's the assurance that her dreams are within reach. The programme allows her to focus on learning without worrying about tuition, uniforms, or transport.

"It motivates her to know that this is not just CSC supporting her," Guinanoy said. "When help comes from outside your immediate family, it gives you an extra push to do better and go further."

CSC expressed deep gratitude for the partnership between the shelter and SVC: "Beyond the financial aspect, we're thankful that SVC has chosen one of our residents. It inspires her to strive harder and believe in her potential," Guinanoy said.

Commitment That Lasts

Select VoiceCom's flagship programme is not a one-time event but a long-term commitment. The company plans to add more beneficiaries like Jackie, ensuring they have consistent access to opportunities that shape their future and the community's.

This sustained approach underscores SVC's belief that real change happens through consistency, compassion, and shared responsibility.
