Operation Tuli at Tipolo Health Center in Mandaue City - SVC

Written by Select VoiceCom | Oct 9, 2024 3:29:05 PM

Male circumcision, or “tuli,” holds deep roots in Filipino culture, blending folk beliefs with medical wisdom. For many young Filipinos, it’s a rite of passage into manhood—from boy to a man. From a health perspective, male circumcision is considered to help maintain penile hygiene and prevent various ailments, including infections and even cancer. As a way of embracing this long-standing tradition and to ensure the health and hygiene of Filipinos, Select VoiceCom launched Project 15: Operation Tuli.

On July 29, 2023, the company partnered with our registered nurses from our healthcare accounts to make this initiative possible. SVC nurses performed free circumcision procedures on 76 young boys at Tipolo Health Center in Mandaue City, Cebu. Our volunteers worked alongside Dr. Florentino Longakit and his team of dedicated medical professionals to ensure the boys’ health and hygiene.

Operation Tuli is an annual event spearheaded by local barangays like Barangay Tipolo. So, SVC would like to thank their healthcare workers for leading this activity. We are honored to be part of this important community service!

A Proactive Health Choice for Young Boys

Circumcision is more than a snip. While this procedure is a personal choice and sometimes a cultural tradition, young boys and even older ones, including their families, should consider the many healthy benefits that come with circumcision. Here are some of them:

  • Maintains genital hygiene
  • Lowers the risk of urinary tract infection (UTI), balanitis (inflammation of the glans), and other infections
  • Prevents penile cancer
  • Reduces risk of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)
  • Decreases the risk for skin conditions like phimosis (where the foreskin is too tight to be pulled back) and paraphimosis (where the retracted foreskin cannot be returned to its normal position)

SVC’s Heroes in White Coats

Select VoiceCom is truly proud of our registered nurses who were behind the huge success of Project 15: Operation Tuli. They are not just reliable healthcare partners for our international clients; they are also the unsung heroes in our community.
