What to wear and how to look good could be the daily questions for most inbound call center agents as they go to work. But it is good that most Philippines call centers implement a business casual dress code rather than a professional one or no dress code at all.
Well, the fact that it’s expensive to sustain a strictly professional wardrobe such as coat and tie or dresses, and on the other hand, if there is no dress code and everyone comes to work just the way they like, a sense of value is taken away from the job. A business casual dress code means looking professional but in a casual way, and it makes life at work much easier.
For men, a sports coat creates a pulled-together look. Pants or khakis, long-sleeved button-down shirts or neatly pressed polo shirts, dark socks, and leather shoes and belts are also appropriate.
Women’s attire is more complicated than men's, as it includes makeup and accessories. Women should avoid showing too much skin and tight clothing. Cotton shirts paired with dress pants, khakis, or skirts make a casual outfit. Shoes must still be well-made and close-toed. Flats are suitable. Makeup should be natural. Nails should be clean and manicured; French tips and tan polish are always trendy and nice. The use of pearls looks very professional and elegant.
Well, these are just simple tips. Even though we would like to think that skills and abilities matter for inbound call center agents, appearance is very important. As Henry Ward Beecher says, clothes and manners do not make the man, but when he is made, they greatly improve his appearance.
