Select VoiceCom (SVC) has taken another meaningful step in strengthening its corporate social responsibility with the official launch of its flagship program, “The SVC Legacy: Bata, Bayani, Bukas,” in partnership with Children’s Shelter of Cebu (CSC).

The program kicked off on Saturday, August 9, 2025, with a skills-building workshop entitled “Speak with Confidence,” followed by a feeding program that brought joy to the shelter’s residents. This inaugural visit marks the first of many that SVC plans to sustain this year and in the years ahead.

A Deeper Commitment to the Youth

While SVC continues to support various community initiatives such as Brigada Eskwela, tree planting, and clean-up drives, the SVC legacy program represents a deeper, more focused commitment.

Through this initiative, SVC aims to make a long-term impact by partnering closely with CSC, ensuring that young residents receive the skills and confidence they need to succeed in life.

“We believe every child has the potential to become a #SuccessDriven hero of tomorrow. Through care, education, and engagement, we can help shape that future,” said Ann Espina, brand and communications supervisor at SVC.

The Children’s Shelter of Cebu operates four homes for seventy-five to one hundred abandoned, neglected, and abused children in Cebu City, Philippines. It provides holistic care, including food, education, shelter, and counseling.

Building Confidence, One Workshop at a Time

SVC volunteers from the Training department led an interactive workshop where residents participated in activities, answered questions, and practiced speaking in front of their peers. The session left a strong impression on both participants and facilitators.

“I learned how to speak confidently and the dos and don’ts when talking in front of people,” shared Gabriel, an incoming first-year civil engineering student at Cebu Technological University.

“Being confident takes time. Give yourself time to practice because practice makes perfect. If the facilitators can do it, then we can do it too,” added Analiza, a second-year occupational therapy student.

The trainers also felt the impact of the day.

“At first, they looked nervous, but by the middle and toward the end, we saw a 360-degree change. Seeing them smile and interact confidently was the most rewarding part. In my own way, I was able to share my knowledge and make them feel empowered,” said Chris, a trainer from SVC.

A Partnership with Purpose

The launch of The SVC Legacy program marked more than just a one-day activity; it set the tone for a lasting collaboration between SVC and the Children’s Shelter of Cebu. For CSC, the initiative brings resources and the commitment and consistency needed to help residents thrive.

“For the first activity, it was very helpful in building their confidence. These skills will serve them not only in school but also in the community and in their careers. With consistency, we can track their growth and help them transition successfully from the shelter to the community,” said Jane Andrade, social worker at CSC.

She also welcomed organizations that want to get involved:

“We are always open to partners who want to help our residents achieve their dreams and goals. We are happy to share our programs and vision for their future.”

From First Steps to Lasting Change

The first visit is only the beginning. SVC has already set dates to return with more workshops, feeding programs, and wellness activities, nurturing not only the residents’ immediate needs but also their skills and overall wellbeing. With consistency, these efforts aim to inspire change that lasts well beyond the shelter.
