On May 28, 2022, a group of Select VoiceCom volunteers bonded with the rescued dogs and cats at the Island Rescue Organization (IRO) shelter in Barangay Guba, Cebu City. SVC volunteers spent their day bathing, feeding, and tending to the fur babies’ needs, showering these animals with the love and care they deserved.
Animal cruelty, neglect, and torture cases have become rampant in the country. So, in this Project 15 community outreach program, SVC advocates served as the voice of the voiceless. They promoted how all animals should be treated responsibly and with kindness. Our volunteers believed that each one of us has a moral duty to protect the well-being of every living creature and make the world a better place for them.
SVC Volunteers: Animal Welfare Advocates
More than helping with the IRO shelter’s activities, Select VoiceCom took a step toward raising awareness about animal welfare. Our volunteers hoped to inspire others to build a community where every human values and respects all forms of life. They wanted to share their vision with people and turn it into reality together. To organizations like IRO, fellow animal lovers, and those who value life, you can make a big difference even in the littlest ways.
About IRO, A Haven for Rescued Animals
The Island Rescue Organization (IRO) is an animal shelter, a sanctuary built out of love and compassion for living creatures. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to helping the plight of animals. They don’t only rescue abused, abandoned, neglected, and tortured dogs and cats. The IRO team and volunteers work together to provide these animals a place they can call their FURever homes.
IRO President Annalyn Aizpuro advocates for animal welfare and responsible pet ownership. She envisions a Cebu without animal shelters or pounds, only responsible owners and pet-loving homes.
