On March 11, 2023, Select VoiceCom brought back the fun to the lives of the elderly residents of the Daughters of St. Camillus Home for the Aged in San Jose, Cebu City. SVC volunteers delighted the facility’s cherished seniors with a day of laughter, exciting bingo games, and nonstop karaoke.
In this Project 15 event, SVC volunteers made sure every elderly resident felt connected with their fellow seniors and that Daughters of St. Camillus Home would be a place where they can always feel the warmth of a home.
Elderly people in assisted living facilities can feel lonely and isolated, especially when they miss their family members and aren’t able to see them as frequently as they want. That’s why SVC volunteers initiated this charity work to make sure the senior residents feel included and less alone.
Donating the Seniors’ Daily Needs
Aside from fun, games, and music, SVC volunteers brought essential hygiene products to the Daughters of St. Camillus Home for the Aged and their elderly residents. The donations included diapers, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. SVC wanted to ensure the elderly facility had all the necessary resources. Instead of worrying if they had enough supplies, they could focus on maintaining a clean and comfortable environment for their senior residents.
Social Connection for Elderly People
Seniors in assisted living facilities often face the challenge of feeling lonely and isolated, particularly during the moments when they have no visitors. So, SVC employees prepared more than just a day of fun. In this initiative, our volunteers took the time to bond with the elderly residents, truly connect with them, and make them realize they have someone who genuinely cares for them. They became the seniors’ companions for a day.
Moments like these positively impact the lives of elderly residents, particularly their emotional and mental well-being. So, SVC pledged to make sure that the most vulnerable populations would spend their golden years with big smiles on their faces.
