It's January once again, and Cebu bursts with vibrant colors, lively beats, and the joyful spirit of the Sinulog festival. At Select VoiceCom (SVC), this beloved Cebuano tradition is kept alive through a celebration close to home, brought to life in a festive and flavor-packed FriYay.

A Sinulog-Inspired Start to the Year

In the early hours of January 16, the 10F lobby buzzed with energy as employees lined up for FriYay Priti-Treats, a special celebration inspired by Sinulog's spirit of unity, devotion, and community. Even before sunrise, the HR and Marketing office was already active, distributing coupons as early as 2:00 AM and building excitement for the treats ahead.

By 5:00 AM, the lobby was filled with the unmistakable aroma of a familiar Cebuano food, setting the tone for a morning of celebration.

900 Delicious Servings for the SVC Family

This year's FriYay treat featured a classic Cebuano pairing: smoky barbecue with puso (hanging rice), a staple of local street food culture and a Sinulog favorite. A total of 900 servings were prepared and distributed, courtesy of this month's partner, Ned Nanay's Grill, a well-loved Cebu grill house known for its rich, flavorful barbecue and signature sauce.

The treat was a hit among employees. "I can attest that they have the best-tasting barbecue. We are grateful to SVC for making us happy through this FriYay event," shared Eva May, one of SVC's employees.

A Mini-Fiesta at the Lobby

As plates were served, the lobby quickly transformed into a lively mini-fiesta. Teammates exchanged smiles, snapped photos of their barbecue plates, and echoed the familiar chant, "Viva Pit Señor!" The colorful banderitas, smoky aroma, and cheerful atmosphere made the celebration feel as festive as the streets of Cebu.

Keeping the Sinulog Spirit Alive

The Sinulog festival, held every third Sunday of January, is one of the Philippines' most iconic celebrations, honoring the Santo Niño (child Jesus) through dance, music, and vibrant displays. While the grand festivities take over Cebu City, SVC brings the heart of Sinulog closer to its people by celebrating culture, community, and shared identity within the workplace.

This FriYay was more than a food treat. It was a celebration of gratitude, togetherness, and Cebuano pride, marking a festive and meaningful start to the year.
