At Select VoiceCom, our voices are more than tools—they are our connection to the world, our way of reaching out, helping, and comforting. In a season filled with warmth and giving, the story of SVC agent Princess Jayne Agohayon, or Raven, reminds us of the simple yet profound ways we can touch lives—starting with a heartfelt hello.

“In a job where our voice is our number one armor, the simple act of saying ‘hello’ to our customers has created memories I will forever cherish,” Raven shares. One such memory began with an elderly man on the other end of the line, whose response to her greeting was deeply moving.

“He told me that hearing me say ‘hello’ felt like the world was recognizing he was still alive...”

The man, she learned, hadn’t received a personal call from his family in years. Even a call from a company had become a highlight of his day—a small acknowledgment that he still mattered. “He told me that hearing me say ‘hello’ felt like the world was recognizing he was still alive,” Raven recounts.

What made their conversation even more poignant was the way her voice reminded him of his late wife. He spoke fondly of the countless phone calls they’d shared while he was serving in the military. “Her voice had been his soothing comfort during the long, lonely hours,” Raven recalls. “He laughed as he reminisced about how they’d talk endlessly, and my simple ‘hello’ brought all those memories flooding back.”

For Raven, the moment was deeply personal. Her  father serves in the military, and she could relate to the man’s stories of separation and connection. As they spoke, he shared how his wife had always encouraged him to be kind and helpful to others. Now, struggling with age and frailty, he needed assistance with a home repair but was concerned about the cost. Raven assured him that the consultation was free, understanding the financial constraints he faced.

“The call we shared made a lasting impact on me.”

But what struck her most wasn’t the specifics of the call—it was the realization of what her voice meant to him. “While I may not have been his late wife, the call we shared made a lasting impact on me,” she says. “It reminded me how precious our conversations are, whether they’re with family or strangers because we never know when they might be the last.”

What began as a routine call became a moment of profound human connection.

For the elderly man, it was a reminder of love, comfort, and the warmth of being seen and heard. For Raven, it was a revelation of how meaningful her work truly is.

“A casual 'hello' meant the world to him.”

“What may have been a simple greeting, a casual ‘hello,’ meant the world to him,” she reflects. “And in that moment, I realized that this job, with all its small moments of connection, is more meaningful than I could have ever imagined.”

As we celebrate World Hello Day, Raven’s story is a testament to the extraordinary power of a simple word. A simple hello may seem small, but in its simplicity lies the profound power to heal hearts, spark joy, and remind us all of the beauty of human connection. It’s more than a word—it’s a gift we offer to the world, one call at a time.
