On May 19, 2026, Select VoiceCom donated 20 computer units to Balamban Central Elementary School as part of its annual kickoff donation drive, which provides educational resources to selected schools at the start of the school year. This is the first of several donation activities planned in the coming weeks through the company’s corporate social responsibility programmes.

The donation is meant to restore the school's digital learning after Typhoon Tino damaged its computer lab. By giving new computers, SVC wants to help students and teachers regain access to technology and keep their education on track.

According to Emanuel Mendoza, Information Technology Officer of the Cebu Province Division, the donation addresses an urgent need within the school.

"It's a very big support from SVC, these computers, for the teachers and the students, because actually they have no more computers left after Typhoon Tino," Mendoza shared.

He also noted that the donation is crucial to teaching and learning at the school, especially given that many students have limited access to technology.

For teachers and school leaders, the donation means more than just replacing broken equipment. Fritz Mahilom, Master Teacher II and ICT Coordinator at Balamban Central Elementary School, said that computers are a big part of students' daily learning.

"The need for the use of the computer is very important for our learners," Mahilom said. "This will help them not only at the elementary level, but also prepare them when they move on to secondary education."

Mahilom also said that students use computers for ICT subjects, online learning programmes like Khan Academy, and even digital school elections. This helps them get comfortable with technology early on.

The school principal, Luzgarda Borgonia, also said the donation supports the school's focus on students and helps them become more competitive in a global setting.

"This initiative greatly helps our school because this is for the learners," Borgonia shared. "These computer units will help develop not only literacy and numeracy, but also critical thinking skills through technology and digital learning."

She also mentioned that the donation helps teachers by enabling students to have hands-on experiences during ICT lessons.

Ann Espina, Brand and Communications Supervisor at Select VoiceCom, said the company chose Balamban Central Elementary School because it saw the school needed help right after the typhoon.

"We saw an opportunity to support the real and immediate needs of both students and teachers in a way that directly impacts learning and everyday school life," Espina explained.

She also said that the donation drive shows Select VoiceCom's ongoing commitment to supporting education and helping local communities.

"Through initiatives like this, we continue to live out our purpose as a company that is #SuccessDriven to make a difference."

Select VoiceCom continues to support underserved schools and communities through its CSR initiatives. With more donation drives coming soon, the company is committed to helping create better opportunities for future generations.
